Then, this week, something want wrong. The wind chill increased, temperatures dropped, - (3 degrees) and many areas right on the coast were covered with snow. (the picture above was taken in Limassol.! - courtesy of Clint Darden)
Down here though, it's not time to reach for taboggans and skis, as we only had a light covering - but a local Cypriot did say it's a ' first' for 10 years, s worthy of note, and some excitement. - The view of the mountians, from Kouklia yesterday, put me in mind of Austria or France, with snow capped peaks.
Then today, after the grey skies of recent mornings, we awoke again to a beautiful blue, soft white clods, and the sun shining through. Let's hope the temperature picks up quickly to, as is forecast. - Buildings here are SO not geared up to cold conditions, so we walk about indoors in boots and thick jackets to keep warm.
One thing for sure here though - we know for sure that from May we will have unbroken hot sunshine right through to October again, and that until then whilst there are cold and wet periods, on dry days, the sun can be so warm that we're reaching out for tee shirts and shorts. - so this we can cope with without complaint!!!
