Anne Findlay - hand printed silks

Anne has been a silk painter for over 18 years. She learned this ancient art from Jill Clay both at private lessons and the local collage.
Silk painting began in China and also has a long history with Japan. The silk that Anne uses is from China and the special dyes are from Europe.
Different techniques are used to create amazing effects. You can control the spread of dye by using an ‘outliner’; or how about using salt? Or create fantastic results by making ‘water marks’ or let the different coloured dyes blend in to each other. All the work is finished by ‘steaming’ the silk in order that you can enjoy the fabulous colours and hand wash your garments

Silk Painting is challenging, it is addictive but most of all Silk Painting is FUN AND you don’t have to be able to draw or be ‘arty’.
